While Mount Hotham in Victoria’s High Country might traditionally be associated with mercury-dropping, mid-year escapes, snow days and its winter sports, it’s also becoming well known for its stunning hiking terrain.
As the gateway to the Bogong High Plains and with access into the Dargo region, Hotham’s walking tracks are full of history, unique alpine flora and fauna and plentiful social media gloat opportunities.
And, for one day only, you can enjoy a glorious al fresco adventure – with a guide – for free on Saturday 18th March with two extended walks available for hikers who really want to immerse themselves in nature.

Get Your Head In The Clouds
With an altitude of 1861 metres, Hotham is a hiking hot spot for those who like their head in the clouds but their feet firmly on the ground.
There are two free guided walks on offer, both designed for fit hikers who can handle a longer walk but aren’t familiar with Hotham’s rugged terrain, or who just like to walk with a group.
You can either take on the sky-skimming Huts Walk over the highest points of Hotham’s skifields, then dip down into Swindlers Valley or alternatively, go on a journey of discovery down through the history-laden Cobungra Ditch Walk via the West Access Track.
Full of interesting facts and stunning views, it’s a great way to get away from it all. Plus, we all love a good walk don’t we?
At the end of the walks, there will be a complimentary barbecue and drinks at the historic Silver Brumby Hut at Mount Hotham resort.
