What is Dazzle Dry nails

Not a shellac, not a traditional mani: What are dazzle dry nails

You won’t want to go back to your regular ol’ manicure again

French manicure? Shellac? SNS? Full set of acrylics with a powder gel? There’s so many manicure options out there when it comes to getting your nails done – not to mention the colour choices! But there’s a new nail trend in 2024 that’s made us sit up and pay attention.

A self-proclaimed “healthy gel alternative”, Dazzle Dry nails promises beautifully manicured nails, ready in just minutes. But what exactly is it? We did some digging to find out what all the fuss is about.

What are Dazzle Dry nails?

Dazzle Dry is a natural four-step nail care system that promises a better-for-you alternative to the more traditional gel or acrylic polishes. Hard-set nails are ready in just five minutes (faster than it takes to make a morning cuppa!) without the need for those harsh UV lamps.

The long-lasting formulation ensures 7-14 days of chip-free wear without all the hidden chemicals that can come with a regular manicure. You can get your nails done at selected salons that offer Dazzle Dry or you can do it yourself from home.

Dazzle Dry nails: The safer alternative

According to Dazzle Dry Australia, it is “the cleanest of all solvent-based polishes and lacquers on the market today”. Unlike acrylic or gel nails that can cause your nails and skin to go brittle, peel or crack Dazzle Dry nails claim to be:

  • Hypoallergenic
  • Vegan
  • Cruelty-free
  • Non-toxic
  • Non-yellowing
  • Fortifying

So how does it work?

The four step-process begins with a Nail Prep that you apply to the nail with a cotton pad to remove oil and lotion. Follow with two generous coats of Base Coat to the entire nail, allowing each layer to dry matte. Now comes to the fun part – colour! Apply two coats in your Nail Lacquer of choice before finishing with the Top Coat to seal in all the layers. It should take just five minutes to dry.

When you’re ready for a new colour, Dazzle Dry polish can be removed with regular acetone/non-acetone nail polish remover (the stuff you can buy from supermarkets and pharmacies).

Do Dazzle Dry nails really last?

If properly applied, Dazzle Dry nails should last 7-14 days, and even longer on your toes. Of course if you work with your hands it may not last the full week but on average, a week to two is the sweet spot.

Can you remove Dazzle Dry with regular nail polish remover?

Yes! That’s the beauty of Dazzle Dry nails. Unlike some other polishes, you can remove your nails with a standard acetone/non-acetone nail polish remover.

Is Dazzle Dry the same as gel?

No, Dazzle Dry nails and gel are not the same. There is no need for UV light to cure your nails and Dazzle Dry contains a strengthener to fortify your nails.

How much is a Dazzle Dry manicure?

The cost of a Dazzle Dry manicure will depend on your salon. Prices can range from $45 to $85 and anywhere in between.
